How it works

A folder that isn't on your disk.

Every file is listed. None is downloaded. Open one and it arrives — that is the whole trick.

Saved Messages

Nothing is copied to your Mac in advance, so a 200 GB archive costs 200 GB in Telegram and nothing here.

What you can do

Everything you'd expect from a folder.

Drag files in

They upload to your Saved Messages and are waiting on your phone before you've finished making coffee.

Make folders

Organize as you like. Telegram has no folders, so the location travels inside the message — your structure comes back on another Mac.

Open anything

A file downloads the moment you open it, Quick Look included. Until then it takes no space at all.

Move a whole library

Import folder queues an entire directory. The queue is written to disk, so quitting or rebooting doesn't lose your place.

Delete without fear

Deleting moves a file to the trash, where it can be restored. Only emptying the trash touches Telegram.

Cap the cache

Set a ceiling between 1 and 50 GB. Older copies are dropped when it's reached; the originals stay in Telegram.

Getting started

Three steps. There is no fourth.

01

Drag to Applications

Signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without warnings.

02

Sign in to Telegram

Your number, the code Telegram sends, and your two-step password if you use one.

03

Press Connect cloud

The folder appears in the Finder sidebar under Locations.

Straight answers

What it doesn't do.

Cheaper to say now than to refund later.

One file, up to 2 GB
Or 4 GB with Telegram Premium. The total is not limited — only the size of a single file.
Folders can't be renamed
A folder's name is part of the path stored inside every file it holds, so renaming one would mean rewriting hundreds of messages. Make a new folder and move the files across.
Other chats stay read-only
Writing is allowed only to Saved Messages, so a slip of the hand in Finder can't post anything into a group chat.
Everything you upload is visible in Telegram
It lands in Saved Messages on all your devices. Usually the point — but worth knowing before you move a private archive there.
Uploads are unhurried on purpose
Telegram rate-limits accounts that hammer its API. A slow copy is a much better outcome than a blocked account.
Privacy

There is no Telepath server.

The app talks to Telegram directly, the same way the official client does.

Your files sit in your own account. The session, the file index and the cache live in the app's container on your Mac and nowhere else — no relay, no telemetry. Disconnect and delete data removes the folder, signs you out and erases all of it locally, and leaves every message in Telegram exactly where it was.
